Longhorns’ injury list grows, four names in doubt for UTEP
With the No. 7 Texas Longhorns favored by 40.5 points on Saturday against the UTEP Miners, according to FanDuel, head coach Steve Sarkisian and his medical staff remain cautious to ensure that short-term injuries don’t develop into long-term injuries.
That approach will impact the status of at least four players — junior running back Quintrevion Wisner, sophomore wide receiver Emmett Mosley, junior wide receiver DeAndre Moore, and sophomore defensive tackle Alex January, who are all “doubtful to out,” according to Sarkisian during his Thursday media availability.
“I don’t have concerns about long-term effects about any of them, but I think we would be putting them at risk for long-term effects if we forced him back too soon,” Sarkisian said.
Wisner and January were both held out of last Saturday’s win over San Jose State, while Mosley is still waiting to make his Texas debut after suffering leg injury in preseason camp.
According to a report from Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods, Moore is in concussion protocol after his injury against the Spartans.
Another player could also miss the UTEP game with Richardson reporting that junior tight end Jack Endries will be “limited” about playing after recording two touchdown catches in 27 snaps against San Jose State.
