Law professor shares honest stance on Colorado football Shilo Sanders’ $12 million lawsuit

University of Texas law professor Mechele Dickerson is shocked by the specifics of the $12 million civil lawsuit filed by a security guard at Trinity Christian High School, John Darjean, against Colorado football safety Shilo Sanders.

Dickerson is especially puzzled by how Deion Sanders, a wealthy individual with access to a comprehensive legal team, failed to inform his son about the consequences of neglecting to address the lawsuit.

“There are parts of this story that make no sense to me,” Dickerson said (h/t Yahoo Sports). “I have to say it’s kind of stunning given the wealth of the father that there wasn’t a lawyer involved advising them that you can’t just kind of ignore a lawsuit.”

Shilo Sanders is confronted with a range of unknowns as he approaches his last season playing football for Colorado

Shilo’s decision to declare bankruptcy to avoid settling with Darjean reflects poorly on Coach Prime’s son. Adding to this negative perception is his absence from the Black and Gold spring game and the refutation of reports suggesting he would miss the beginning of the 2024 season.

Shilo underwent a shoulder cleanup surgery and was seen wearing a brace during Prime Weekend. Given the typical recovery time for such a procedure, it is highly likely that he will miss games in September at the very least.

Currently, Shilo’s prospects in the NFL draft are diminishing due to various factors. While some NFL teams might overlook his off-field issues, others may be hesitant due to uncertainties surrounding his health. Eventually, the truth about his condition will surface, and he will need to address concerns regarding the state of his shoulder.
