Lane Kiffin just gave the update Ole Miss fans were waiting for

“Yeah, he is (closer to getting back on the field),” Kiffin said Oct. 6. “He is continuing to get closer to 100%. He’s not there yet. This week for him was good. We’ll see tomorrow.”
If the situation holds, it clears the way for quarterback Trinidad Chambliss to start his fourth consecutive game for the Rebels. The No. 4 Rebels (5-0) host Washington State (3-2) on Oct. 11 at 11:45 a.m.. Chambliss has led the Rebels to wins against Arkansas, Tulane and LSU in impressive fashion.
Chambliss has passed for at least 300 yards and rushed for at least 60 yards in each of his starts.
Simmons, the Rebels’ Week 1 starter, still has a chance to earn his job back. Kiffin said Simmons has a good shot to challenge for the starting job later in the season.
“A lot, as far as down the road,” Kiffin said. “He’s not back to 100%. We’ll continue to evaluate everything and look at that. We’re in a great place. We have two great quarterbacks. I think we have two quarterbacks that are better than a lot of peoples’ No. 1. It’s awesome to be in this position.”
