LA Rams receives key Cooper Kupp Update

Just over three years ago, Cooper Kupp strung together one of the greatest single-season campaigns from a wide receiver in NFL history. He led the league in all three major receiving stat categories (receptions, yards and touchdowns) and subsequently was named the NFL Offensive Player of the Year.

That same season, Kupp powered the Los Angeles Rams to a Super Bowl LVI victory over the Cincinnati Bengals. He reeled in eight catches for 92 yards and two touchdowns en route to earning Super Bowl MVP honors. Kupp had seemingly all but solidified himself as one of the greatest wideouts in franchise history.

Now, the once-untouchable wideout has parted ways with LA and is looking to find a new home this offseason.

Kupp was officially released from the Rams on Wednesday, just over a month after he had announced the team’s intentions of moving on from him this offseason. With the rise of 23-year-old Pro Bowler Puka Nacua and LA’s signing of three-time All-Pro Davante Adams, it had become clear to team officials in recent weeks that Kupp no longer fit in the Rams’ present or future plans.

Nevertheless, the 31-year-old wideout is still expected to garner interest from across the league — and all signs point towards him wanting to find a new home as soon as possible. Fox Sports NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reported on Wednesday that league officials believe Kupp does not plan to have a “long, drawn-out process” in free agency.

“Kupp has interest from at least five teams, and the expectation is he’ll decide sooner rather than later,” Schultz said. “It’s unclear if he’ll take any free-agent visits.”

While his potential suitors remain unclear at the moment, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter noted the Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots as teams to keep an eye out for in the hunt for Kupp.
