The Knicks’ All-Star center has sustained a wrist injury and is now questionable for Friday’s game against the Detroit Pistons. This injury update follows his stellar performance on Wednesday, where he scored 44 points with 13 rebounds to help secure a comeback win over the Miami Heat. Despite flexing his wrist late in the game, he continued playing and showed no obvious signs of further discomfort.
His season so far has been impressive, averaging 22.5 points, 11.3 rebounds, and leading the league in three-point shooting at a remarkable 72.7%. With the Knicks facing injuries to other key players at the center position, his availability against the Pistons is increasingly critical.
Should he sit out, Jericho Sims is expected to step in as the starting center, providing solid backup with his 3.8 rebounds in roughly 13 minutes per game. Rookie Ariel Hukporti would also see increased playing time.
Karl-Anthony Towns, acquired in an offseason deal from Minnesota, has been listed as questionable for the game, with updates on his status expected closer to Friday’s tip-off at 7 P.M. EST.
