Kirby Smart issues major self-critique after Bulldogs’ big win vs Ole Miss
With the primary goal of maintaining their strong momentum this season, here are the upcoming games Kirby Smart’s team must face to keep solidifying their status as title contenders:
- @ Florida, November 1
- @ Mississippi State, November 8
- vs Texas, November 15
- vs Charlotte, November 22
- vs Georgia Tech, November 28
The Georgia Bulldogs earned a significant home victory in Athens over the Ole Miss Rebels, but head coach Kirby Smart remained somewhat dissatisfied with how the team played.
The Georgia Bulldogs’ impressive 6-1 record highlights their full potential and solidifies their position as serious contenders for the National Championship. Their commanding home win over the Ole Miss Rebels has certainly turned heads and generated momentum for the team moving forward.
Still, not everything is perfect within the program—at least not based on what unfolded in their latest matchup in Athens against Lane Kiffin’s squad. One particular element of the game left head coach Kirby Smart less than pleased.
In a recent interview, the seasoned coach broke down his team’s performance, offering insight into both the offensive and defensive sides of the ball.
“The way we played defensively, you’re probably going to lose games,” Smart said, according to Dawg Nation. “But, look, as bad as we played on defense, I can sit here and tell you without watching the tape, that’s a really good offense.”

“When you go up against them, they have really good weapons, they’ve got a good plan, and the quarterback run element right now for them makes it really hard to defend.”
For the Georgia Bulldogs, the mission is clear and unwavering: earn a place in the College Football Playoff. As head coach Kirby Smart leads his team into another demanding SEC season, the mindset in Athens is firmly set on “National Championship or nothing.”

Now firmly established as a dominant force in college football, the Bulldogs know that falling short of a CFP berth—and ultimately winning it all—would be seen as a letdown.
With a roster loaded with elite talent and sky-high expectations, Georgia remains laser-focused on battling through a challenging schedule to secure a CFP spot and reclaim their place at the top of the college football world.
