Georgia has suffered two key injuries
Kirby Smart details two key injuries from Georgia’s first scrimmage
Injuries are the worst. Every team faces them throughout the year, but Georgia football seemed to suffer more injuries than the average team during the 2024 season. And that bad luck has not stopped so far this spring.
A few significant injuries have already occurred during the spring, but Georgia just had their first scrimmage of the spring on Saturday which creates a greater opportunity for injuries to occur.
Unfortunately that is exactly what happened, according to Kirby Smart during his press conference on Tuesday.
“Isaiah Gibson’s dealing with a little bit of an injury that he should be back from here shortly,” Smart shared via 247sports.com. “Saturday, I think Drew Bobo had a little bit of a hyperextension of a knee. He should be back shortly. He wasn’t able to go today.”
While no one ever wants to see any injuries happen, it is a good thing that both of these injuries aren’t too serious. And when you consider who the two players are, it’s a good thing that they aren’t.
Isaiah Gibson is one of the few freshman who most expect to make a big contribution on the field this fall. On top of that, Drew Bobo has a great chance to win a starting spot on the offensive line as well. So while injuries are bad no matter who they happen to, the last players you want to suffer them are those who are projected to play a lot in the fall.
Thankfully Smart said that both players are expected to be back shortly, which could mean later this spring. But at the end of the day, neither injury is long term and they both will be 100 percent ready to go by the first game this fall when the Bulldogs take on Marshall.
