Kevyn Adams & the Buffalo Sabres Receive Big News
Malenstyn returns to practice
Beck Malenstyn was a full participant in practice on Wednesday, his first skate with teammates since exiting Buffalo’s win over Columbus on Feb. 4 with back spasms.
Malenstyn had skated on his own Tuesday while the rest of the team reconvened for their first practice following the 4 Nations Face-Off break. Buffalo’s next game is Saturday against the New York Rangers.
Injury report
Beck Malenstyn, F (back spasms) – Out since Feb. 4
Malenstyn exited the Feb. 4 game versus Columbus with back spasms and missed the following game in Nashville. He resumed skating on his own Feb. 18 and joined the team for practice on Feb. 19. – Last updated Feb. 19
Mattias Samuelsson, D (lower body) – Out since Feb. 2
Samuelsson said he broke a bone in his foot while blocking a shot during the team’s win over New Jersey on Feb. 2. He missed the following two games but is expected to be back in the lineup when the Sabres resume play against the Rangers on Saturday. – Last updated Feb. 18
Jordan Greenway, F (middle body) – Out since Dec. 17
Greenway underwent surgery in December to repair a middle-body injury, which coach Lindy Ruff said would force the winger to miss a “significant amount of time.”
Greenway began practicing with the team on Jan. 31 and since then has been on track to return in Buffalo’s first game following the 4 Nations Face-Off break, at home against the Rangers on Feb. 22.
“Right now all plans are that he’s ready to go,” coach Lindy Ruff said following Tuesday’s practice, the team’s first after the break. – Last updated Feb. 20
