Kentucky Wildcats Lands Another Massive Commitment, Anticipate six Additional players from the transfer portal
Braydon Hawthorne is officially headed to Kentucky.
The four-star small forward from Huntington, West Virginia, announced his commitment during a ceremony on Tuesday, choosing the Wildcats over Duke, Pitt, Virginia Tech, and West Virginia.
Hawthorne had initially signed a National Letter of Intent to stay close to home and play for West Virginia. However, following head coach Darian DeVries’ departure for Indiana after just one season in Morgantown, Hawthorne requested and was granted a release from his NLI.
Although he left open the possibility of rejoining the Mountaineers under new head coach Ross Hodge, he ultimately focused on a final group that included Kentucky, Duke, Pitt, and Virginia Tech.
In the end, Hawthorne committed to Mark Pope and the Wildcats. He becomes the fourth member of Kentucky’s 2025 recruiting class, joining Overtime Elite standout Jasper Johnson, in-state center Malachi Moreno, and Croatian forward Andrija Jelavic. The Wildcats are also set to add six players from the transfer portal, including Alabama transfer Mouhamed Dioubate.
