Kentucky coach Mark Pope Yet Again shares Some Good News On A Talented veteran point guard
Jaland Lowe, a player added to the Kentucky roster through the transfer portal from Pitt, is set to be the starting point guard for the 2025-26 season.
Last year at Pitt, Lowe averaged 16.8 points, 4.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists, and 1.8 steals. However, there are concerns about his shooting efficiency, as he managed only 37.6% from the field and 26.6% from three-point range.
Despite these figures, he took an average of 14.3 shots from the field and five from beyond the arc per game. At Kentucky, he is expected to shoot around eight times per game, similar to Lamont Butler’s role last season, which should improve his shooting percentages during his first year with the Wildcats.
Coach Pope praised Lowe upon his signing, stating, “Jaland is an incredibly explosive, playmaking, veteran point guard. He’s a great kid with a tremendous work ethic who truly loves the game and is eager to win.”
As a skilled passer, Lowe is likely to create excellent opportunities for the sharpshooters on the team. With Coach Pope’s system designed to generate high-quality shots, Lowe’s shooting numbers are expected to improve this season.

With Acaden Lewis no longer in Kentucky’s recruiting class, Lowe will see plenty of playing time. Standing at 6’3″, he is anticipated to have impressive stats for Kentucky this year
