Kansas City Royals And Coach Matt Quatraro Announce Jac Caglianone Big News After Major Changes
After launching the first two home runs of his career on Thursday afternoon, Kansas City Royals’ top prospect Jac Caglianone added another on Friday night, helping the Royals secure a 6-5 victory over the San Diego Padres at Petco Park. But it was his first career homer that truly stood out—according to @MLBStats
Caglianone made history by hitting the highest pitch ever recorded for a first career home run in the Statcast Era, which began in 2015.

Although Jac Caglianone has appeared in 15 major league games, he remains the No. 10 overall prospect in baseball, according to MLB Pipeline. He’s currently batting .220 with a .233 on-base percentage. The Royals selected him sixth overall in last year’s draft out of the University of Florida, where he played a key role in leading the Gators to two College World Series appearances, including a trip to the finals in 2023, where they were defeated by Paul Skenes and LSU.
Here’s an excerpt from his MLB.com scouting report:
Caglianone possessed arguably the most raw power in the 2024 Draft class. The left-handed hitter posted a top exit velocity of 121.7 mph during his junior year and followed it up with a 117.3 mph max in the Fall League— Statcast’s second-highest recorded exit velocity during that stretch. His immense power stems from his 6-foot-5 frame and long limbs, which generate impressive leverage.

The Royals and Padres continue their series Saturday afternoon, with first pitch scheduled for 7:15 p.m. ET. Kansas City will start left-hander Noah Cameron (2-2, 1.91 ERA), while San Diego counters with right-hander Dylan Cease.
