BREAKING: “Massive Boost” VCU Rams Basketball Head Coach Ryan Odom Announces Major Commitment

VCU Lands Promising 2025 Prospect Silas Barksdale

Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) has added another talented player to their 2025 recruiting class with the commitment of Silas Barksdale, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound prospect from Woodside High School. Barksdale, a three-star recruit, has been making waves on the AAU circuit with Boo Williams, one of the most respected grassroots programs in the country.

Barksdale’s commitment is a significant win for Coach Mike Odom and his staff, who have been working tirelessly to build a strong foundation for the future of VCU Basketball. The 2025 prospect brings a unique combination of size, skill, and athleticism to the table, making him a valuable addition to the Rams’ roster.

“We are thrilled to welcome Silas to the VCU family,” said Coach Odom. “He is a talented player with a bright future, and we believe he will be a great fit for our program both on and off the court.”

Barksdale’s commitment comes on the heels of a successful summer on the AAU circuit, where he showcased his ability to impact the game in multiple ways. His size and length make him a formidable presence in the paint, while his developing perimeter skills allow him to stretch the floor and create opportunities for his teammates.

“Playing for Boo Williams has been an incredible experience,” said Barksdale. “I’ve learned so much from the coaches and my teammates, and I’m excited to bring that knowledge and experience to VCU.”

With Barksdale’s commitment, VCU’s 2025 recruiting class continues to take shape, with the Rams looking to build on their recent success and establish themselves as a consistent contender in the Atlantic 10 Conference and beyond.

As Barksdale prepares for his senior year at Woodside High School, he will undoubtedly continue to attract attention from college coaches and scouts. However, his commitment to VCU demonstrates his belief in the program’s vision and his desire to be a part of something special in Richmond.
