The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have released Canadian defensive lineman Benoit Marion.
The 28-year-old joined the team earlier this season after his release from the Toronto Argonauts. He has participated in nine games this year, recording six special teams tackles, but was recently moved to the practice roster.
Standing at six-foot-five and weighing 250 pounds, Marion had one defensive tackle, nine special teams tackles, two forced fumbles, and one sack over 16 games with Toronto in 2023, primarily in a depth role.
Originally from Montreal, Marion was a third-round pick by the Alouettes in the 2020 CFL Draft, but was released before his rookie season started. He then signed with the Argonauts as a free agent, compiling seven defensive tackles, 17 special teams tackles, one sack, and two forced fumbles over 35 career CFL games.
Additionally, the Ticats have signed American receiver Jalon Calhoun to the practice roster.
The 23-year-old signed with the Detroit Lions after going undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft but did not make the final roster.
Calhoun, a 5-foot-11, 195-pound native of Greensville, S.C., played 61 collegiate games at Duke University, where he had 253 catches for 3,026 yards and 17 touchdowns. He also returned 26 kicks for 258 yards.
