On Wednesday, the Women’s Collegiate Gymnastics Association (WCGA) announced that nineteen members of the Big Red gymnastics team received the All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Cornell University ranked 19th out of 87 teams nationally, achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher, with the team recording an impressive 3.69 GPA. Notably, six gymnasts achieved a perfect 4.0 GPA: Eva Phair, Macy Armstrong, Melanie Stone, Rachel Zun, Regina Walton, and Victoria McMillan.
Coach’s Statement
Head coach Melanie Hall expressed pride in the team’s accomplishments, stating, “The Cornell Gymnastics team continues to pursue excellence in the gym as well as the classroom.” She highlighted their dedication and time management skills, which contributed to their outstanding academic performance. Hall emphasized the challenges of being a student-athlete at a prestigious institution, noting the grit required to excel in both academics and athletics. She feels honored to lead such a committed team.
