A 21-year-old defensive back for Southern Miss, tragically passed away in a shooting on Tuesday night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. The incident took place at an off-campus apartment complex, with no further details immediately available.

Daniels, who played for Southern Miss in 2023 after transferring from Ole Miss, made three interceptions, forced two fumbles, and tallied 28 tackles in 12 games last season.

Described as having an infectious smile that brightened any room, Daniels was set to transition from cornerback to safety for the upcoming 2024 season and was expected to start.

His coach, Will Hall, shared heartfelt condolences on X, urging everyone to keep Daniels’ loved ones and the Southern Miss community in their thoughts and prayers during this challenging period.
