Just In: West Virginia head coach Neal Brown Announces Another Major Signing

On Wednesday, West Virginia football received another commitment from a recruit in the Class of 2025; this prospect came from a school that is starting to act as something of a pipeline programme for the Mountaineers.

Good Counsel High School (MD) product Gavin Crawford, a 6’4″, 300-pound three-star prospect, announced on social media on Wednesday that he had committed to WVU. He will join class of 2024 offensive lineman Kyle Altuner, a former high school teammate, and class of 2025 three-star prospect Eidan Buchanan, who is also a WVU commit.

Crawford spoke with Adam Friedman, a Rivals National Recruiting Analyst, on Wednesday about his choice to enrol at West Virginia.

“They have a plan for me and know what they want from me coming in, and I’m ready to hit the ground running.” stated Crawford. “They had three freshmen in a row.” I know that’s a nice thing, but all-Americans on their o-line. They bring players in, play them early, and do a decent job of it.”

Crawford also mentioned how the WVU programme has a “good family environment” that appealed to him. This was made clear when he talked about how crucial his relationship with the Morgantown staff was to him choosing where to play.

“My relationship with Coach Matt Moore and Coach Neal Brown has been vital in my recruitment,” Crawford stated. “Just being able to connect with them and have a real relationship with them outside of football, just being able to talk about our lives and our family and stuff like that, has been really important.”

Crawford added that his interest in WVU was sparked by some of his fellow future Mountaineers in his high school programme, who encouraged him to see what their future home had to offer.

“Eidan and Kyle, they were peer pressuring me to head on down, and see what it’s about,” he stated.

Crawford expressed his hope that WVU will continue to recruit athletes from the Good Counsel programme and mentioned that he intends to apply the same peer pressure to a handful of his high school teammates as his buddies did to him. Justin Thompson, a linebacker with offers from Duke, Florida, Marshall, Pittsburgh, and South Carolina, was one of the names he named.
