Just In: Virginia Tech reportedly confirms the departure of a top superstar, Lands With WKU

WKU Softball head coach Amy Tudor revealed on Tuesday that transfer Maci Masters would be joining the team, arriving at The Hill following a year at Virginia Tech.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Maci to our team,” Tudor expressed. “She is a powerful hitter who will be a thrilling prospect for both coaching staff and fans to watch. With her exceptional game sense and strong arm, she will bring a significant presence to our infield and seamlessly integrate into our offensive and defensive strategies.”

Masters, a four-year letterwinner from Daniel Boone High School, garnered First Team All-State, Conference Player of the Year, and Sweet 16 Player of the Year accolades during her senior year in 2023. Her 64 career home runs set the Tennessee state record, and in 2022, she established the single-season home run record in Tennessee with 25 homers.

During her senior year, Masters achieved a .442 batting average with 18 home runs and 64 RBI, achieving a 1.422 OPS, .509 on-base percentage, and .913 slugging percentage.

She was also named All-State in 2022, posting a .433 batting average, .533 on-base percentage, and 74 RBI, in addition to her record-breaking 25 home runs. Throughout 2021 and 2022, Masters earned spots on the All-Conference, All-Region, and All-Tournament Teams, as well as being named Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022.

As a member of Mojo Lunsford, Masters was ranked the No. 30 prospect in the 2023 class by Extra Innings. She contributed to her team’s victory in the Alliance Fastpitch National Championship in 2022. During the summer of 2022, she tallied 12 home runs with a .359 batting average, .465 on-base percentage, 1.148 OPS, along with 46 RBI and 44 runs.

In the summer of 2023, she achieved a .420 batting average with six home runs and 30 RBI, along with a 1.244 OPS, .479 on-base percentage, and .765 slugging.

Masters made appearances in seven games during her freshman year with the Hokies.
