BREAKING: UCLA Adds Experienced Defensive Line Transfer for 2024 Season

It was previously rumored, but we can confirm that UCLA has, according to sources, included a new defensive tackle in its lineup for the 2024 season. This new addition is Drew Tuazama, who has transferred from South Carolina.

Matt Zenitz tweeted on Saturday that Tuazama’s transfer to UCLA was anticipated, and sources have now informed us that Tuazama has been admitted and enrolled.

Tuazama spent a year at South Carolina after transferring from UAB, where he was recognized as an all-Conference USA selection and was considered a potential NFL draft pick.

At 6’5 and 290 pounds, he is likely to be positioned as an interior lineman, although he does have experience playing on the edge, suggesting potential versatility within UCLA’s defensive line. While his impact during his single year at South Carolina was limited, he led UAB with five sacks the year before.

Tuazama was a three-star prospect in high school, but his transfer status has not been rated. UCLA’s defensive line possesses strength at defensive tackle, but overall depth is lacking and they are still seeking to fill the gap left by last year’s edge production. Tuazama could be instrumental in addressing the team’s pass rush needs.

As a graduate student, Tuazama has one more year of eligibility remaining.
