Just In: The Chicago White Sox Receives Another Big News
The Chicago White Sox announced on Wednesday that they have signed veteran outfielder Michael A. Taylor to a one-year contract worth $ 1.95 million.
To accommodate Taylor on the 40-man roster, the White Sox placed right-hander Jesse Scholtens on the 60-day injured list. Scholtens, 30, missed the entire 2024 season due to Tommy John surgery he underwent in March.

At 33 years old, Taylor is recognized for his defensive skills and leads all major leaguers with 52 defensive runs saved since 2020, according to the White Sox. He earned an American League Gold Glove Award as a center fielder with the Kansas City Royals in 2021.
In the previous season, Taylor achieved a career-high 1.4 Defensive Wins Above Replacement while playing for the Pittsburgh Pirates. He hit a career-low .193 with five home runs and 21 RBIs over 113 games.
In 2023, he showed unexpected power, belting 21 home runs in 129 games with the Minnesota Twins.
Taylor has a career batting average of .235, with 100 home runs and 353 RBIs over 1,082 games played for the Washington Nationals (2014-20), Royals (2021-22), Twins (2023), and Pirates. Drafted by the Nationals in the sixth round of the 2009 MLB Draft, Taylor was part of Washington’s World Series championship team in 2019.
