JUST IN: Red Sox Talented star Apologizes for Directing Anti-Gay Slur at a Fan

Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran issued an apology for using an anti-gay slur while responding to a fan during Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros.

In his statement, Duran expressed regret, saying, “During tonight’s game, I used a truly horrific word when responding to a fan. I feel awful knowing how many people I offended and disappointed. I apologize to the entire Red Sox organization, but more importantly to the LGBTQ community. Our young fans are supposed to be able to look up to me as a role model, but tonight I fell far short of that responsibility. I will use this opportunity to educate myself and my teammates and to grow as a person.”

The Red Sox organization also released a statement confirming they addressed the incident with Duran immediately after the game and reiterated his apology. They emphasized their commitment to inclusivity and the importance of welcoming all fans to Fenway Park.

The incident occurred during the sixth inning, captured by the NESN broadcast, when Duran reacted to a heckling fan. While the team has not announced any disciplinary actions, previous cases in the league have seen players suspended for similar offenses.

In the game, the Astros defeated the Red Sox 10-2, marking a three-game sweep. The Red Sox are set to face the Texas Rangers in their next series starting Monday.
