JUST IN: Rangers to drive bidding war for Starlet amid Utrecht move.

According to Joshua Barrie, Utrecht may be priced out of a summer transfer for Rangers midfielder Sam Lammers.

The Light Blues have apparently chosen to sell the Dutchman when the transfer market opens in an effort to recoup their investment, despite the fact that he made an impression while on loan with the Eredivisie club in the second half of the season.

While it is believed that Utrecht is eager to sign the 27-year-old for a long-term contract this summer, Rangers Review writer Barrie believes other Dutch teams may be able to sign him before them.

He stated, “What you would say is it would be very good for Rangers if they can try and drive up a bit of a bidding war,” on the Rangers Review YouTube channel on May 30, at 9:00.

“Utrecht is eager to hold onto him, but given Lammers’ performance over the past six months, it appears that another club in their nation may be able to outbid them.”

Even though supporters and commentators have pleaded with Joshua Barrie to give Lammers another chance at Ibrox, it has always seemed likely that the Gers would let the Dutchman go this summer.

Given his dismal start to the season, most supporters undoubtedly believed the Light Blues would suffer a significant loss on the 27-year-old at the beginning of the campaign, but now they may even be able to collect a fair price.

In the end, Rangers don’t really care where Lammers winds up this summer. In order to reinvest in Clement’s team this summer, it is imperative that the Gers are able to secure the highest compensation for his services.

During the summer transfer window, the Belgian intends to make a number of changes to his playing group, but he will require funding to bring in new players. One or two incomings could be funded by a large financial move made by Lammers.

Hopefully, sooner rather than later, someone will meet the Gers’ valuation.
