Just In: Raheem Morris Reveals Posible Next Falcons QB and Qualities Required

No matter who the Falcons chose as head coach, whether it was Raheem Morris, Bill Belichick, or even Jesus Christ himself, they wouldn’t have been able to achieve much more than Arthur Smith did last year with Desmond Ridder.

Ridder, a third-round pick, is not seen as a viable starting option for the Falcons in 2024. Even if Zac Robinson were to reach elevated coaching levels like Kyle Shanahan or Sean McVay, Ridder’s position on the team would remain unchanged.

While securing a head coach was crucial, I would argue that obtaining a quarterback is even more vital. Winning a Super Bowl is challenging without a strong head coach and quarterback, but it’s nearly impossible without at least a competent quarterback.

The Falcons currently lack a quarterback of that caliber, prompting a search for one. Raheem Morris and Terry Fontenot will be seeking specific qualities in the next franchise quarterback.

They will be looking for individuals who possess exceptional decision-making skills, can make quick and effective choices on the field, and demonstrate sound fundamental techniques such as maintaining a strong base, balance, and executing short hitches in the pocket.

The Falcons require improved decision-making skills from their quarterback. Desmond Ridder topped the league in red zone turnovers, a performance issue attributed directly to Ridder himself rather than Arthur Smith or his offensive system.

The dilemma lies in satisfying the short-term goal of winning immediately for Arthur Blank and the long-term objective of securing a franchise quarterback for the next decade.

Despite this challenge, Raheem Morris, Zac Robinson, and Terry Fontenot have significant resources in terms of cap space and draft picks to acquire the right quarterback for the team.
