COMMITTED: Purdue bolster Squad dept, Lands Highly-Touted Running Back for 2025 Class

Purdue’s 2025 recruiting class expanded during the weekend as they secured a verbal commitment from three-star running back Jaron Thomas, a native of Elkhart, Indiana.

Over the weekend, Purdue’s 2025 recruiting class saw a new addition in the form of Jaron Thomas, a three-star running back from Elkhart, Indiana, who announced his commitment to the Boilermakers on Sunday evening.

Hailing from Elkhart, Indiana, Thomas is a three-star prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. Standing at 6 feet 1 inch and weighing 195 pounds, he currently attends Concord Community High School and is ranked among the top 100 running backs in his class according to 247Sports.

Thomas formalized his decision through a social media post on Sunday night. He becomes the sixth player in the 2025 cycle to verbally commit to head coach Ryan Walters and the Purdue football program.

Expressing his gratitude, Thomas wrote, “Feeling blessed! I am grateful to my parents for supporting my dream and helping me make the best decision for myself. A big thank you to all the coaches who have guided me on this journey, especially Concord Football for their unwavering support. I appreciate all my friends and supporters for keeping me focused during challenging times. Special thanks to Coach Craig Koehler at Concord, who has tirelessly worked to provide me with the opportunities that led to this moment. After thoughtful conversations with my family and loved ones, I am excited to announce my commitment to Purdue University!”

Thomas had an exceptional performance at Concord during his junior year in the 2023 season. He amassed impressive statistics, rushing for 1,207 yards and 14 touchdowns on 138 carries. Additionally, he contributed 79 kickoff return yards and 37 receiving yards.

However, Thomas showcased his versatility by excelling on both offense and defense. As a multi-talented junior, he displayed his prowess on the defensive end by amassing 77 tackles, including five tackles for loss.

Concord concluded the 2023 season with a 6-5 record, securing a victory over South Bend Adams in sectional play before succumbing to Mishawaka in the subsequent round.

According to 247Sports, Thomas received a total of six offers. Ultimately, he opted for Purdue over offers from Army, Ball State, Navy, Southern Illinois, and Western Michigan.
