Just In: Purdue added a hardcore key non-conference opponent for 2024-2025 schedule

It will be the second time in programme history that the Boilers take on the Bulldogs.
With Yale, a resurgent Ivy League power, making an appearance at Mackey Arena in 2024–2025, the Purdue Boilermakers have added a significant nonconference opponent to their schedule.

The Bulldogs qualified for the NCAA Tournament past season as a 13-seed, which was their fourth trip in the previous eight tournaments and their seventh in programme history. With their first-round upset of the fourth-seeded Auburn Tigers—a club many had picked to make the Elite Eight and perhaps the Final Four—Yale pulled off one of the tournament’s biggest upsets this year.

The Boilers and Bulldogs faced each other in the first round of the 2022 season. Zach Edey nearly recorded a double-double with 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Jaden Ivey scored 22 points to lead the Boilers to victory, 78-56. Later, after defeating #2 Kentucky and #7 Murray State on opening weekend, 15th-seeded St. Peters upset the Boilers in the Sweet 16.

With up to seven juniors or seniors on the roster, Yale will have a somewhat seasoned team back for the following season, led by two 6’6 wings in John Poulakidas and Matt Knowling. Standout 7′ Danny Wolf from Yale was lost to the transfer portal by Dusty May, the new head coach of the Michigan Wolverines.

Additionally, Purdue has announced that Texas A&M will face them at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. As more games are revealed this summer and the B1G announces the addition of four new teams—UCLA, USC, Washington, and Oregon—keep an eye on Hammer and Rails.
