Just In: Philadelphia Phillies Superstar Likely Missing London Series

The Philadelphia Phillies will likely be without their star player for the London Series as he recovers from an injury.

The Philadelphia Phillies have bounced back after avoiding a sweep against the San Francisco Giants on Wednesday and winning the series opener against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. These are games the Phillies should win based on their performance so far this season.

There was some concern about the Phillies hitting a regression after dropping two series in a row against the Colorado Rockies and Giants. However, it’s important to keep the long season in perspective, especially since the Phillies became the first MLB team to reach another milestone this season.

Despite the day-to-day ups and downs, the Phillies have continued to win at a rapid rate despite being without their superstar shortstop Trea Turner since he hit the injured list with a left hamstring strain on May 4. This makes their achievements even more impressive.

As the Phillies await Turner’s return, the London Series against the New York Mets starting June 8 was seen as a possible date for his comeback. Manager Rob Thomson was hopeful that would be the case, and some positive news a couple of days ago suggested it could become a reality. Unfortunately, it now seems unlikely that Turner will rejoin the team in London.

Turner still needs to ramp up his running program and go through baserunning and sliding drills before heading out on a rehab assignment, meaning he is unlikely to return until after the London Series. The Phillies will have to continue their strong play without their star shortstop for a bit longer.
