JUST IN: Paul Pierce trolls Celtics doubters after NBA Finals win against Mavericks.

The Boston Celtics defeated the Dallas Mavericks in Game 1 of the NBA Finals on Thursday night, and legendary Paul Pierce couldn’t resist calling out and mocking the naysayers.
Boston Celtics guard Jaylen Brown (7) controls the ball against Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic (77) in the third quarter during game one of the 2024 NBA Finals at TD Garden.
Both fans and analysts were skeptical about the Boston Celtics’ potential to defeat the veteran Mavericks team going into their matchup. After defeating three teams with 50 wins, the Mavs had a difficult journey to the Finals as the fifth seed in the Western Conference. Boston, on the other hand, had a much easier route after playing clubs that have been plagued by injuries. With just two losses in the playoffs thus far, Jayson Tatum and company even swept the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Many claimed that the Mavericks team, full of confidence, would be too strong for the untested Celtics, who haven’t been put to the test yet. Not to add that Luka Doncic of Dallas is without a doubt the finest player still playing in the postseason.

But the Celtics proved in Game 1 why they are the NBA’s greatest club for the 2023–24 campaign. Before settling for the 107-89 victory over the Mavericks, they led by as much as 29 points.

Pierce made sure to make fun of anyone who had doubts about the Celtics the day following their win. The former champion questioned, “Why everyone so quiet today?” on X (previously Twitter).
