Just In: NIU Huskies women’s head coach Kim Kester has Announced Major Signing for the 2024-25 season

Kim Kester, the head coach of Northern Illinois University Huskies women’s golf team, has recruited another major signing for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

Thorman, who will be joining NIU as a graduate student, previously competed at Illinois Wesleyan from 2020 to 2024. She notably secured a third-place finish at the NCAA Division III women’s golf championship, achieving a 72-hole score of 293. Additionally, Thorman clinched victory at the CCIW Championships with a career-best 54-hole score of 218.

A three-time All-Region honoree from the WGCA, Thorman has celebrated career triumphs on four occasions, including two wins during the 2022-23 season. Throughout her tenure at Illinois Wesleyan, she participated in 97.5 rounds and made four appearances at the NCAA Championships, entering as an individual in 2022.

Thorman, hailing from Macomb, Illinois, was recognized as a five-time CCIW Golfer of the Week and set various records at Illinois Wesleyan, such as the 72-hole low, the 54-hole low, single-season scoring records, and single-season birdies.

Coach Kester expressed enthusiasm about Thorman’s addition to the NIU Women’s Golf program, highlighting her accomplishments at Illinois Wesleyan, including her recent success at the D3 National Championship. Kester commended Thorman for her leadership qualities and anticipated her positive impact on the NIU golf program.

Thorman joins Dakota Tallent from Las Vegas, Nevada, and Alex Ouellet from Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as the third member of the 2024-25 signing class.
