NC State basketball assistant Brett Nelson attended the game of four-star center Cody Peck on Thursday.
Just a few days after showing interest in Carmel Christian School (N.C.) rising junior Cody Peck, NC State basketball head coach Kevin Keatts sent one of his assistants to observe the up-and-coming center at the 3SSB Palmetto Road Championship in Rock Hill, S.C.
Brett Nelson, who became part of Keatts’ staff in May after working as an assistant to Frank Martin at UMass, was courtside to watch Peck play for his Garner Road squad on Thursday.

And it seems that the 6-foot-10, 195-pound four-star player, who has steadily risen to No. 68 overall in the 2026 On3 rankings, once again showcased his agile versatility. He did this in front of a audience that included coaches from Creighton, Texas, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Dayton, and more, according to a report by Relentless Hoops’ Trent Markwith.
Markwith observed that Cody Peck, with more than twelve offers, “has demonstrated strong outside shooting this week while also utilizing his athleticism on both offense and defense.”
This morning, coaches from Creighton, NC State, Texas, Xavier, Virginia Tech, Oklahoma State, Dayton, and other schools observed 2026 forward Cody Peck. He has exhibited strong outside shooting this week and has also displayed his athleticism on both offense and defense.
Peck is among the initial five basketball prospects that NC State is eyeing for the 2026 recruitment. NC State coach Kevin Keatts is also interested in two other centers: four-star Latrell Allmond from John Marshall High School (Va.), currently ranked 44th on the 247Sports 2026 Composite, and five-star Sam Funches from Germantown High School (Miss.), who holds the highest ranking among Wolfpack offers in the class at 21st overall.
