Newcastle United set to sign two players by next month – sources
By the end of June, Newcastle United is optimistic that agreements will be reached to sign Lloyd Kelly and Tosin Adarabioyo, sources have told Football Insider. When their contracts expire at the end of next month, both English center backs are expected to leave Fulham and Bournemouth on a free transfer.
Football Insider disclosed earlier this month that Eddie Howe is giving priority to acquiring defenders with top-tier experience, and the Magpies have expressed interest in signing Adarabioyo, 26, and Kelly, 25. The agreements are reportedly progressed and going well right now, with both players eager to join the Tyneside club this summer, according to sources.
According to Football Insider, Newcastle is giving Adarabioyo a triple-your-money contract and is in talks with his representation today in London. With a “big-money” four-year contract on the table, the club is also well-positioned to come to an arrangement with Kelly, who is expected to go to St. James’ Park in the coming weeks.
Newcastle could sign both Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly
The center defensive duo would give Newcastle’s team some respectable Premier League experience in addition to increasing the number of British players who are native-born. Kelly has made 25 appearances for Bournemouth this season, and although missing a few stretches due to injury, he has shown promise and adaptability as a left-back.
The England youth international has rejected several contract offers to stay at the Vitality Stadium after this season, as Football Insider previously disclosed. In an attempt to bolster his defensive options, Howe may now aim to send Kelly and Adarabioyo to Newcastle.
The Magpies finished in seventh position, and if Manchester United loses to Manchester City in the forthcoming FA Cup final, they will play in the Europa Conference League the following season.
Adarabioyo played for Fulham in all competitions throughout the duration of the season, but he turned down contract offers to stay at Craven Cottage, therefore he didn’t play in any of their final four games.
