Michigan has secured another significant victory in recruiting
Julius Holly, an EDGE from On300 Alpharetta (Ga.) High, chose to commit to Michigan over Georgia, Ole Miss, and Texas A&M. Holly had visited Michigan officially earlier in the month and felt very comfortable there.
“I had a fantastic time,” Holly commented. “I had the opportunity to have numerous discussions with the coaches. I spent time with the players and gained insight into how Michigan operates and how I could fit in there. It exceeded all my expectations. The coaches really engage on a personal level and emphasize player development. Obviously, academics are highly valued at Michigan. Overall, it was a fantastic experience.”
Although Holly’s recruitment by major programs happened relatively late, he had developed a strong bond with new U-M defensive line coach Lou Esposito. Both of them hail from New Jersey, which further solidified the Wolverines’ appeal to Holly.
“He’s known me since his time at Memphis, so he already had some knowledge about me,” Holly explained. “He began recruiting me more recently. He’s really cool. I grew up in Jersey, and he’s from there, so we have some common ground. As a coach, he seems very grounded and experienced. He knows his stuff.”
Standing at 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Holly is ranked as the No. 25 EDGE and No. 236 overall prospect nationally by On3. He is also rated as the No. 29 overall recruit in the state of Georgia for this cycle.
With Holly’s commitment, Michigan now has 13 commits in its 2025 recruiting class, including several other highly rated prospects. This has helped elevate their national and conference recruiting rankings, positioning them as a top contender in recruiting.
