Former Jazzman Alec Burks Traded To Detroit Pistons
The Heat have signed guard Alec Burks to a one-year contract, per a report from ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Wednesday afternoon.

Following a trade on February 8, Burks, 32, participated in 43 games for the Detroit Pistons and 23 games for the New York Knicks in 2024. In 18.4 minutes per game, he averaged 10.4 points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists.

Since making his professional debut in December 2011, the Colorado native has played for seven different teams: the Utah Jazz, Knicks, Pistons, Golden State Warriors, Cleveland Cavaliers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Sacramento Kings. He is a true journeyman.

Burks played arguably of his finest basketball of all time in the ’24 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Indiana Pacers, averaging 14.8 points per game in New York’s seven-game series defeat.

Miami lost to the Boston Celtics in the opening round of the playoffs despite finishing 46-36 in 2023–2024.
