Just In: Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway Announces Major Signing

The Memphis Men’s Basketball team as the latest addition, marking the eighth recruit signed by Penny Hardaway this offseason. This period has been eventful for Penny Hardaway and the Memphis Men’s Basketball team; despite unexpectedly losing David Jones to the NBA Draft, most of the team is already on campus for summer workouts.

One player who is yet to join is Daniel Vieira-Tuck from Portugal, currently preparing to represent the Portuguese U20 national team at the 2024 FIBA EuroBasket. This will be his second consecutive year playing for his mother’s homeland. In the previous year, he posted impressive stats, facing top talents like French center Alex Sarr, a potential top pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.

Vieira-Tuck expressed how the tough competition in the Portuguese pro basketball league improved him mentally and physically, dealing with older and stronger opponents. Despite initially considering other paths, he chose Memphis due to the opportunities provided by NIL, the supportive fanbase, and Penny’s influence.

Vieira-Tuck is eager to contribute in any way necessary to help the team succeed. Upon his arrival in late July, he will meet his new teammates and become acquainted with the team’s setup, ready to make an impact. With his addition, Memphis now has three remaining scholarship positions available for recruitment.
