JUST IN: Massive Crisis as 4-star athlete decommits from Miami, speaks highly of Hurricanes’ in-state rival

Miami football multiple WR options following 2025 4-star Waden Charles’ de-commit.

After four-star 2025 prospect Waden Charles announced his decommitment on Thursday, the Miami football program will focus on the six wide receivers who have official visits scheduled in June. Charles’s defection had not come as a surprise.

According to Inside the U’s Gaby Urrutia, Charles has decided to commit to two programs: Central Florida and Arkansas. According to Urrutia, Charles will travel to Arkansas on the weekend of June 7 and will spend June 14–14 in Central Florida, home of the Palm Beach Central athlete.

With three-star 2025 wide receiver Tyler Williams paying Miami an official visit this weekend, Miami will start to move on from Charles. When Miami hosts wide receivers on June 7, it will be a big weekend. Miami will host three-star wide receivers Joshua Moore and Daylyn Upshaw, four-star Dallas Wilson, who is committed to Oregon, and five-star Jaime Ffrench on the weekend of June 7.

On June 11, Miami will welcome four-star athlete Vernell Brown, an Ohio State recruit and projected wide receiver in college. The weekend of June 21st, Miami will host four-star 2025 Homestead wide receiver Cortez Mills. According to 247Sports, Williams, and On3, Miami has the most pledges from Mills and Williams.

According to On3, Miami has the highest chance of getting Mills to commit (42%). Third place goes to Florida, which has a 17% probability of getting Mills to commit. Williams is projected to commit to Miami at a rate of 29%. For Williams, Georgia comes in second at 29 percent.

Anticipate Miami to prioritize wide receivers in the 2023 class. In 2024, Jacolby George and Xavier Restrepo will be playing their final seasons with Miami. In the 2024 class, Joshisa Trader, Ny Carr, and Chance Robinson were signed by Miami. In 2024, the trader is expected to play in the Miami rotation.

Sam Brown, a transfer from Houston, has two more years of eligibility. Isaiah Horton, a redshirt sophomore, Robby Washington, and sophomore Nathaniel Joseph provide Miami a solid foundation on which to grow when the 2024 freshmen class arrives at wide receiver. In the 2025 class, Miami will have plenty of time to replace Charles.
