Just In: “Massive Boost” Jaguar Women’s Basketball signs seven for 2024-25

On Monday, Yolisha Jackson, head coach of the South Alabama women’s basketball team, revealed the recruitment of seven new players for the 2024-25 season. This group consists of three new freshmen and four incoming transfers.

Terren Coffil
5’7 – Freshman – Guard
New Orleans, Louisiana
Chalmette High School

 

Terren Coffil transferred to Chalmette High School after completing her freshman and sophomore years at John Curtis Christian High School. Throughout her high school career, Coffil secured four Louisiana state championships and received the State Championship MVP title during her freshman year. Notably, she contributed 15 points and eight rebounds, aiding John Curtis in clinching another state championship during her sophomore year. In addition, Coffil was honored with Second Team All-Metro and First Team All-District accolades.

Furthermore, Coffil marked a significant milestone for Chalmette High School by becoming the first female Division I signee across all sports. She also showcased her talent in club basketball by achieving victories such as the Alamo City Classic Championship and the Basketball on the Bayou Silver bracket championship as a member of the Lake City Pride team.

Aroa Mangas
5’9 – Freshman – Guard
Salamanca, Spain
IES La Laboral

Aroa Mangas competed for IES La Laboral and CD Unibasket in Spain, and she is affiliated with Elite Sports Academy, which is designed for female basketball players in Spain aspiring to pursue opportunities in the United States. Mangas participated in the Spanish U18 Championship and achieved success as a two-time U16 three-on-three champion.

Tara Green
6’3 – Senior – Center
West Helena, Ark
University of Illinois Chicago

Tara Green transferred from the University of Illinois Chicago after the 2023-24 season, during which she appeared in 11 games for the Flames, averaging 4.3 points and 1.4 rebounds per game.

During the 2022-23 season, Green was at New Orleans, where she played in 28 games, including two starts. She achieved an average of 9.9 points and led the team with 6.1 rebounds per game, with 12 double-digit scoring performances and five double-doubles.

Before attending New Orleans, she spent two seasons at Kilgore College, participating in 44 games with the Rangers and accumulating 46 blocks, averaging over one block per game.

Green graduated from Central HS in West Helena, Ark in 2020, where she lettered in multiple sports and finished her basketball career with impressive averages of 20 points, 10 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game. She received two All-State selections and was honored four times as an All-Conference athlete.

Daniela Gonzalez
6’0 – Junior – Forward
Jamundi, Colombia
University of South Florida

Daniela Gonzalez transferred from South Florida after spending the last two seasons there. In her second year, she averaged 6.1 points and 3.7 rebounds per game, along with contributing 14 blocks and 17 steals in 32 games. She achieved her first career double-double (13 points and a career-best 11 rebounds) in a game at Tulsa and also reached a career-high of 16 points against UT Arlington.

During her freshman year with the Bulls, Gonzalez played in all 34 games and averaged 4.1 points and 3.3 rebounds per contest.

As a 2022 graduate of Central Pointe Academy in Kissimmee, Fla., she put up impressive numbers, averaging 16.3 points and 6.4 rebounds per game in her senior year. She received the 2022 Sunshine Independent Athletic Association Player of the Year award and won the three-point shooting contest at The Grind Session, an international

Amyria Walker
5’4 – Junior – Guard
Dallas, TX
Angelina College

Amyria Walker transferred from Angelina College after the 2023-24 season, where she had an impressive performance, averaging 19.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. She maintained a shooting percentage of 41.4% from the field and 33.8% from three-point range. Her efforts contributed to the Roadrunners achieving Conference Co-Champion status with a 16-3 finish.

Following her outstanding sophomore season, Walker received several accolades, including the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches JUCO Player of the Year award and NJCCA First Team All-American honors. She was also recognized as a WBCA All-American and named the Region XIV MVP.

Before joining Angelina College, Walker spent the 2022-23 season at Blinn College, playing in 31 games and averaging 7.2 points and 2.3 rebounds per game.

A graduate of Burleson Centennial High School in 2022, Walker excelled in both basketball and track. She averaged an impressive 36 points per game, totaling 566 points in her senior season and concluding her high school career with 1,616 points. Walker also holds the records for most three-pointers in a game (7) and most field goals in a game (14).

Alicia Spann
6’3 – Junior – Center
Sumter, SC
Daytona State

 

Alicia Spann transferred from Daytona State after the 2023-24 season, during which she participated in 30 games and started six. She maintained an average of 7.1 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. Her most notable performance occurred against Tallahassee Community College, where she scored a total of 17 points.

Before her time at Daytona State, Spann spent the 2022-23 season at Chipola College, where she played in 16 games, averaging 1.4 points and 1.0 rebounds per game.

As a center, Spann was involved in club basketball for Aj’a Wilson Elite in Columbia, South Carolina for two years.
