Just in: “Massive boost” as Senators GM Steve Staios announces a signing of a star forward valued at $775,000
Ottawa Senators’ President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Steve Staios has announced that the team has agreed to a one-year, two-way contract extension with forward Angus Crookshank. The contract is valued at $775,000 in the National Hockey League and $120,000 in the American Hockey League. Hailing from North Vancouver, B.C., the 24-year-old Crookshank recently finished his third professional season. In 50 regular-season games with AHL Belleville, he tied for second in team scoring with 46 points (24 goals, 22 assists).
Crookshank also made his NHL debut in December, recording three points (two goals, one assist) in 13 games with Ottawa. “Angus has proven himself as a consistent point producer in Belleville,” stated Staios. “He’s a fierce competitor and a reliable goal scorer who excels at getting to the opponent’s net. We are delighted with his development and anticipate further growth from him in the upcoming season.” Crookshank, named AHL’s Player of the Month in February 2024, represented the B-Sens at the 2024 AHL
All-Star Classic in San Jose, Calif., contributing two goals for the North Division in the All-Star Challenge on Feb. 5. Selected by the Senators in the fifth round (126th overall) of the 2018 NHL Draft, Crookshank was honored as Belleville’s Offensive Player of the Year for the 2023-24 season. He currently ranks second in the club’s all-time goals list (55) and third in all-time points (109).
Additionally, Crookshank holds records for rookie games played (71) and spots in the rookie goals (26) and rookie points (47) lists, as well as the record for goals in a season (26, 24).
