Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame are contending for the five-star receiver from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman who intends to announce his college decision.
The competition to secure the commitment of five-star receiver Derek Meadows has intensified, prompting the highly skilled player to postpone his decision date.
Amid fierce pursuit from the finalists Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, and Notre Dame, the esteemed prospect from powerhouse Bishop Gorman has rescheduled the revelation of his college selection to July 20 at 3 p.m. ET / noon PT on the 247Sports YouTube channel. Originally set for this Saturday, the significant moment has been delayed by another week.
Ranked as the nation’s No. 32 overall prospect, No. 6 wide receiver, and No. 1 player in Nevada for the 2025 class by 247Sports, Meadows holds a prominent standing in the recruiting landscape.
The highly active Meadows embarked on a packed official visit schedule, making stops at Michigan (May 31), Georgia (June 7), Notre Dame (June 14), LSU (June 18), and Alabama (June 21).
“I’m evaluating various aspects of these schools,” Meadows recently shared with 247Sports, “but I understand the importance of having a great quarterback, excellent educational opportunities, and strong leadership. Ultimately, I’m seeking the best fit for my future.”
As a standout receiver and the reigning Gatorade state track and field player of the year, Meadows received over 20 offers during the evaluation period and swiftly ascended the rankings of college programs. Standing at 6-foot-6 and weighing 200 pounds, Meadows recorded an impressive time of 36.73 seconds in the 300-meter hurdles.
During his junior season, Meadows tallied 15 receptions for 391 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games. Possessing a tall and lean physique with a wide catching range, Meadows exhibits significant physical potential, positioning him as one of the most promising prospects in the western region for this recruiting cycle.
National recruiting analyst Greg Biggins from 247Sports, who observed Meadows multiple times during the offseason, holds a strong belief in Meadows’ potential to make a substantial impact at the collegiate level and beyond.
In his scouting report, Biggins described Meadows as a sizable receiver with immense potential in the 2025 class. He possesses a unique blend of size, agility, and body coordination and has only begun to tap into his full potential. With an impressive 80-inch wingspan, he poses a significant challenge for smaller defensive backs and is expected to be a formidable threat in the red zone from the outset. Notably, he earned the title of Gatorade Track and Field Athlete of the Year during his sophomore year and is among the top hurdlers in the region. Given his substantial physique, it’s plausible that he could transition into a tight end with strong pass-catching abilities, presenting a daunting matchup for linebackers and safeties in the middle of the field.
Decision Date: on July 20 via the 247Sports YouTube channel.
