JUST IN: Leeds United agree terms for Brilliant star signing, could play this weekend

Jesurun Rak-Sakyi may be set to play as early as this weekend after Leeds United reached an agreement on loan terms with Crystal Palace, according to Sky Sports.

On August 8, reporters Lyall Thomas, Tim Thornton, and Michael Bridge noted in the Transfer Centre blog that while Sheffield United is currently the “frontrunner” to sign Rak-Sakyi, Leeds and Hull City are also in the mix.

All three clubs have reportedly reached loan agreements with Crystal Palace to sign the 21-year-old winger, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, which could allow him to play for one of them during the opening weekend of the Championship.

Earlier reports indicated that Sheffield United had gained an advantage over Daniel Farke’s team in the race for Rak-Sakyi [Alan Nixon, August 7], but there is still work to be done on the transfer, and the winger has yet to make his final decision.

Leeds United remains in the hunt to sign Jesurun Rak-Sakyi

There is significant interest surrounding Jesurun Rak-Sakyi’s future, even though the 21-year-old has yet to compete at the Championship level. All three clubs involved believe he could play a crucial role in their promotion efforts.

Leeds United, in particular, is eager to strengthen their options on the wings after Crysencio Summerville’s transfer to West Ham United for a reported £25 million.

Replacing the Championship Player of the Year with someone who has yet to compete at this level poses a risk, but it’s one that Leeds United and their two Yorkshire rivals are willing to take.

Leeds has submitted a £7 million offer to Norwich City for Jonathan Rowe [John Percy, August 5], but such an investment—given the profit and sustainability constraints at Elland Road—would also carry risks if Daniel Farke’s team fails to secure promotion.

While Rak-Sakyi is expected to require a loan fee of over £1 million, he presents a financially safer option. However, it remains uncertain whether Leeds can outbid Sheffield United for his signature.
