JUST IN: Hull FC target Canterbury Bulldogs back as Richie Myler closes in on first signing

Hull FC have engaged in discussions with Hayze Perham regarding a potential transfer to the team. Reports from Hull Live indicate that the Canterbury Bulldogs player has attracted attention in the UK recently, and Hull FC is keen on recruiting him following Tex Hoy’s exit.

Aged 24, Perham is versatile, capable of playing in the full-back, centre, and wing positions. He appears to be the type of outside back Adam Pearson hinted at when discussing recruitment. While the club, under new Director of Rugby Richie Myler, is primarily seeking a half-back and back-rower, they are also open to bolstering other areas of the squad.

Meanwhile, Perham boasts 35 NRL appearances in his career so far. Initially debuting in 2019 for the NZ Warriors, he later featured for the Parramatta Eels before transferring to the Bulldogs in 2023. During his time with the Sydney-based club, he primarily operated as a full-back, participating in 19 games

He has not made any NRL appearances this season, but he has been actively participating in the Bulldogs’ New South Wales Cup team. In this league, he has played six matches to date, typically in either the wing or centre positions.

Altogether, Perham has competed in 77 NSW Cup matches, finding the try line 27 times. Furthermore, last year at Canterbury, he shared the field with Hull FC pair Franklin Pele and Jayden Okunbor.
