JUST IN: Heat Receive Positive Update On Status of Tyler Herro after missing 20 consecutive games

Last time Tyler Herro appeared on the court for the Miami Heat in an NBA game was on February 23rd. Since then, he has been sidelined due to a foot injury, missing 20 consecutive games. However, there’s a possibility that his absence may end this week.

NBA insider Shams Charania from The Athletic and Stadium reports that there is hope for Herro to make a comeback to the Heat lineup on Friday against the Houston Rockets. Miami is embarking on a road trip, and Herro is traveling with the team for the games.

The road trip consists of three games starting in Houston and then moving on to face the Indiana Pacers and the Atlanta Hawks. The match against the Pacers holds significant importance as they are currently positioned ahead of the Heat in the standings for securing a spot outside of the NBA Play-In Tournament.

Having Herro back in action would provide a significant offensive boost for Miami. He currently maintains an average of 20.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in 33.6 minutes this season.

Coach Erik Spoelstra will surely welcome the return of his starting shooting guard. Nevertheless, there is a debate surrounding whether the Heat might actually perform better without him in the lineup.

So far this season, Herro has participated in 36 games, resulting in a 19-17 record for the Heat. Interestingly, when he was absent, the team achieved a 23-17 record. This trend emerged during the 2023 NBA Postseason when Miami reached the NBA Finals as an eighth seed without Herro.

Spoelstra has been able to establish an effective team dynamic in recent games, leading the Heat to their best performances of the 2023-24 season. It will be intriguing to observe how the rotation adjusts with Herro’s comeback, as it may lead to shifts in roles for several players and even some being removed from the rotation entirely.
