Just In: Georgia Tech Head coach Brent Key Announces Major Commitment

Georgia Tech had a successful weekend in recruiting, continuing their momentum with the recent commitment of Carrington Coombs, a three-star edge player from Hebron Christian Academy in Georgia. Coombs becomes the 13th recruit in Georgia Tech’s 2025 class.

With Coombs on board, Georgia Tech’s recruiting class has risen to 22nd in the nation and 4th in the ACC, trailing only Clemson, Syracuse, and Stanford. The average recruit rank for the Yellow Jackets stands at 87.44, surpassing Syracuse and Stanford but trailing behind Clemson, Florida State, Miami, North Carolina, and SMU.

Coombs, a three-star player according to the 247Sports Composite, is ranked as the 625th player nationally, the 68th linebacker, and the 69th player in Georgia.

Among the schools that offered Coombs scholarships were Boston College, Kansas State, Liberty, Virginia, Oklahoma State, USF, and App State. Besides football, Coombs also participates in basketball.

In the 2023 season, he played on both sides of the ball for Hebron Christian Academy, contributing to the team’s 6-5 record and playoff appearance. Coombs recorded 41 tackles, four sacks, a forced fumble, and also made two receptions for 23 yards.

Georgia Tech’s recruiting efforts under Brent Key have been commendable, and the program is poised for further success with the trend they are setting.
