Just in: “Forever & always” She finally said Yes Canadiens’ Brendan Gallagher is getting married

Montreal Canadiens forward Brendan Gallagher has just inked the most significant — and lengthiest — contract of his career.

No, the announcement isn’t about a fresh deal with the Canadiens: Gallagher revealed on Instagram, alongside his longtime partner Emma Fortin, that they got engaged during the weekend at Lost Lake Park in Whistler, BC. The proposal took place against a stunning backdrop of nature.

“Forever & always,” read the caption on the couple’s post, with the Canadiens’ team account also extending their congratulations.

Fortin expressed in an Instagram story that the location held special meaning as it was where her parents got engaged 30 years ago, just a two-hour drive north from downtown Vancouver.

Despite being born in Edmonton, the 31-year-old Gallagher spent much of his early years in BC. At the age of 12, he relocated with his family to Tsawwassen. Gallagher gained prominence as a junior hockey star in Vancouver while playing for the WHL’s Giants for four seasons from 2008 to 2012 before turning professional with the Habs-affiliated Hamilton Bulldogs in the American Hockey League.

Having debuted with the Canadiens in the 2012-13 season, Gallagher has completed 11 seasons with the team. It appears that he still has several seasons ahead, given his four-year contract extension that ties him to the team until 2027.

Although it is premature to start organizing wedding specifics just yet, we can only wish for a weekend as lively as the one Nashville Predators defenseman Tyson Barrie recently had in Victoria for his wedding to his partner Emma Rose.

While we cannot pinpoint the next NHL couple getting married, it might be worth noting any women named Emma for potential nuptials in the league.
