While concerns exist about Tagovailoa’s playoff performance, his impressive 4,624 passing yards in 2023 have convinced many of his abilities. General manager Chris Grier settled the debate by stating that the Dolphins will extend Tagovailoa; the only question remaining is the timing of this extension.

Grier expressed the Dolphins’ satisfaction with Tagovailoa, indicating that drafting a quarterback early is not a priority. The general manager clarified that they are not considering a quarterback in the first round. The Dolphins and Tagovailoa are in ongoing negotiations for a contract that could potentially pay him around $50 million per year.

Discussions on this matter will be temporarily paused as the NFL draft approaches.Unlike some players who use holding out as a negotiation tactic, Tagovailoa has been actively participating in the Dolphins’ facilities, demonstrating his commitment to the team. “Tagovailoa is eager to excel and is doing everything possible to achieve greatness,” Grier said. “Our coach, McDaniel, has also mentioned that there is still another level of improvement for him to reach.”
