Just in: Capitals Lineup Adjustments and Injury Update Ahead of Rangers Game

Tonight, the Capitals will face the New York Rangers at home at 7:30 p.m.After losing their last game 3-0 to the Tampa Bay Lightning, the Capitals made a slight adjustment to their roster.

They traded Mike Sgarbossa (retired from Hershey this week) for Hendrix Lapierre (who will likely be left out). Lapierre is the only player on the third line who has also scored a point this season (Vrána 1b 1a, Mangiapane 2b 1a). The defensive line and pairings are now as follows:Protas-Strome-OvechkinMcMichael-Dubois-WilsonVrana-Sgarbossa-MangiapaneDuhaime-Dowd-RaddyshChychrun-CarlsonFehervary-McIlrathSandin-TvRThings are a little clearer on the goalkeeper’s side. Carbery did not make a goalkeeping decision after Monday’s training session. So far, Lindgren and Thompson have alternated starts throughout the season.

If it continues tonight, Thompson would be the starter. Last season, Thompson faced the Rangers once and won, allowing just one goal on 30 shots (.967 save percentage). Lindgren had more experience last season with the Rangers, having faced 3 times in the regular season (2-1-0, .955 save%, including a 31-save shutout) and 4 times in the regular season.playoffs (0-4-0, .864 save%).
