Edmonds joins Cougars as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining
University of Houston Women’s Basketball Head Coach Ronald Hughey continues to build his 2024-25 roster, with the addition of 6’2 forward Kiera Edmonds from Brooklyn, N.Y., who will compete as a sophomore with three years of eligibility remaining. “We are thrilled to welcome Kiera to our family,” expressed Hughey.
“She brings a physical presence to our front court and plays with confidence. Her ability to score in the paint and dominate the boards will be a significant asset for us.” During her freshman year at Wagner College, Edmonds’ impact was immediate as she was named to the Northeastern Conference All-Rookie Team.
Averaging 9.9 points and 7.8 rebounds per game in conference play, she achieved double-digit scoring in ten games and recorded a career-high 22 points against Central Connecticut State. Additionally, she secured four double-doubles and grabbed a career-high 14 rebounds against Le Moyne. Before her collegiate career, Edmonds excelled at Brooklyn Law & Tech, where she averaged 17.4 points per game as a senior and was named All-State twice while serving as team captain and leading her team to two city championships.
