Martin Devaney, Barnsley’s interim head coach, has confessed that he is unsure if he will guide the Reds to the League One play-offs.
After Neill Collins’ dismissal earlier in the week, Devaney was once again given temporary control. This time, he was entrusted with managing Barnsley’s final regular-season match at home against Northampton Town.
Despite a late goal from Northampton Town leveling the score to 1-1, Barnsley clinched a play-off spot with help from other division results. They are set to play against Bolton Wanderers in the semi-finals over two legs.
n his post-match comments, Devaney hesitated to discuss the upcoming semi-final matches as he was uncertain about his role going forward. Regarding the potential matchup with Bolton, Devaney remarked, “I’m not sure about my future here, so let’s focus on today. Let’s savor tonight, allow things to settle, and I believe we’ll have clarity on Monday about our direction.”
