Just In: Another Buffalo Sabres goalie out with a lower-body injury

The Buffalo Sabres’ starting goalie Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen will be sidelined for at least one game due to a lower-body injury, as announced by the team prior to their upcoming home matchup against the Florida Panthers on Thursday.

The Sabres have indicated that Luukkonen’s status is day to day, but they have not disclosed the specific details of the injury or when it occurred.

Luukkonen’s absence follows a strong performance in his last game, where he made 33 saves in a 7-0 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, marking his fourth shutout of the season and making him the first Buffalo player to achieve this feat since Ryan Miller in the 2011-12 season.

Over his last 12 starts, Luukkonen has a record of 7-5, conceding a total of 19 goals and recording three shutouts.

It is anticipated that Eric Comrie, the backup goalie, will take the starting position against the Panthers. The Panthers have set a new team record by winning nine straight games on the road, as seen in their recent 5-2 victory against Pittsburgh on Wednesday. Comrie holds a 1-5 record and has not participated in an NHL game since a 5-3 defeat against Detroit on December 5.

Buffalo, who is scheduled to face Minnesota on Saturday, has summoned goalie Dustin Tokarski from the minors.
