JUST IN: 20-goal Premier League striker ‘CLOSING IN’ on signing a “Big” Fulham contract
The Fulham striker is on the verge of agreeing a bumper new deal with the Premier League club.
Fulham are nearing an agreement on a new contract with Bobby Decordova-Reid, a valuable first-team player, to extend his stay at Craven Cottage beyond the current season, as his existing deal is set to conclude. The 31-year-old has become an integral part of Marco Silva’s squad on the banks of the River Thames, and the manager had previously expressed his desire to retain the player’s services beyond the summer transfer window.
Despite rotating in and out of the starting lineup this season, Decordova-Reid still managed to make a significant contribution, featuring in 41 matches across all competitions, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. The Jamaican international’s versatility, capable of playing on either flank as well as through the middle, makes him a valuable asset to Fulham. He is one of several first-team players whose contracts are due to expire this summer.
Nonetheless, according to The Sun’s football correspondent Alan Nixon, Fulham is on the verge of finalizing a contract extension with the player. Decordova-Reid had his initial contract renewed in January 2023, during which Vice Chairman Tony Khan praised the player as ‘crucial’ and ‘significant’ to the team.
Reports suggest that a fresh agreement will secure the forward’s presence at the club for an additional two years, accompanied by a substantial salary boost. Following the winger’s decisive goal in an FA Cup victory over Rotherham United in January, Silva commented, “He merits it due to his exemplary professionalism, vocal leadership, and being a standout role model at the club in terms of dedication. He exhibits versatility across various positions and consistently delivers.”
