Jontavius Wyman Sends Strong Message to Georgia Bulldogs with Firm Commitment Decision
Jontavius Wyman, a four-star defensive back in the 2026 class, recently explained his decision to decommit from Georgia and commit to the Miami Hurricanes.
As the 2026 recruiting cycle ramps up, Georgia remains active in pursuing top talent, but earlier in April, they lost a key pledge when Wyman flipped to Miami. The Jonesboro High School standout spoke with Georgia Bulldogs on SI about what led to his change of heart.
“The connection with Georgia just started to fade,” Wyman said. “It felt like it was weakening over time. I talked it over with my family and they supported the idea of reopening my recruitment. Even while I was committed to Georgia, Miami was always right behind. Once I decommitted, they really stepped up—checking on me daily, making sure I was good. I’ve built a strong bond with the coaching staff, especially the DBs coach. They’ve been recruiting me even before they were all at Miami, so it’s really felt like a team effort.”
Wyman confirmed that he’s now fully committed to Miami and is no longer considering other schools.
He is ranked as the No. 196 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 20 cornerback, and the No. 25 player in Georgia, according to composite rankings.
