“I’ve wanted to wear those Carolina uniforms my whole life” 5-Star Forward Returns to Chapel Hill

Top 10 Talent Caleb Wilson Returning to Chapel Hill
The Atlanta forward made his initial trip to UNC back in February.

Eight months after officially visiting for Carolina’s rivalry win over Duke in the Smith Center, Caleb Wilson is coming back to Chapel Hill. He’ll be on campus Saturday for an unofficial visit, he announced on Wednesday.

The 6-foot-9 forward from Atlanta (Ga.) Holy Innocents is ranked the No. 4 power forward and No. 8 overall prospect in the 2025 class by 247Sports.

UNC made a big first impression when it hosted Wilson and his family back on the weekend of Feb. 3.

“It was a great visit,” Wilson told Inside Carolina in February. “I liked the basketball atmosphere and the school atmosphere as well. I have a good relationship with the coaches, and I really like the school. The camaraderie was clear. The whole team was well connected and had a great relationship.

“I’ve always wanted to wear those Carolina uniforms, literally my whole life. Putting on that pattern and that baby bluesurreal. I picked two pairs of Jordan 11 (sneakers) to go with it. Surreal.”

North Carolina has received one commitment thus far in the 2025 class, with the addition of DC guard Derek Dixon last week.

Wilson’s fall travel schedule has already included trips to Kentucky and UCF, and he’s planning to head to Georgia Tech later this month. Schools that he says are under consideration for a visit are Arkansas, Brigham Young, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee and USC.

“Depending on how my visits go I could see myself committing in maybe December or January,” Wilson told 247Sports last week. “It’s just going to be based on how I feel. It’s probably going to be January because I want to see how schools play in their conferences.”

After averaging 20.8 points, 14.6 rebounds, 4.7 assists and 4.4 blocks as a junior at Holy Innocents, Wilson put up 11.9 points and 5.3 rebounds on the EYBL circuit and then raised his game to the tune of 17.3 points (on 62% FG) and 7.0 rebounds en route to a Peach Jam title with Nightrydas Elite.

“In April, Caleb Wilson was putting up good numbers on the EYBL circuit but was struggling to lift his Georgia Stars team,” 247Sports’ Travis Branham recalled. “In the following weeks, Wilson flipped to the Nightrydas and underwent a learning curve. He went from a role where he was allowed to take any shot he wanted to having to complement other elite players. It wasn’t always pretty, but Wilson figured things out. Because of that, he became a major X-factor for the Nightrydas.

“Wilson was efficient and effective on offense, cutting, slashing and finishing at the rim. He was also making some shots from mid-range. But, it was his defense that made the biggest impact on the championship team. He switched around the court and was terrific as a help-side defender.”
