Iowa Hoops Receives Unfortunate Recruiting News amid coaching change
The Iowa men’s basketball team lost its lone remaining unsigned prospect in the 2025 recruiting class amid the program’s coaching change on Sunday.
Dezmon Briscoe, a three-star center from Indianapolis, announced his decision to decommit from the Hawkeyes in a post to X, formerly known as Twitter.
“After careful thought, I’ve decided to reopen my recruitment due to the recent coaching change at the University of Iowa,” Briscoe said. “I’m grateful for the love from the staff and fans. Iowa is still a program I’ll consider moving forward.”
Briscoe originally committed to Iowa in December following an official visit in October. He also held offers from Cincinnati, Duquesne, Ball State, Butler, DePaul, East Tennessee State, UI Indy, Kent State, Nevada, Northern Illinois, Southern Indiana, Toledo, Valparaiso and West Virginia.
247Sports ranks Dezmon Briscoe the No. 203 overall player in the class and No. 32 center in the country.
Briscoe’s decommitment, coupled with Joshua Lewis’ decommitment last week, leaves Iowa with one player remaining in the the 2025 recruiting class — Badara Diakite.
Diakite signed with the program during the early signing period in November 2024.
